Columbia places 6th at the national championship tournament (april 2019)

After a long and fun weekend competing in Philadelphia at the National Championship Tournament, Columbia Mock Trial takes 6th place with a record of 10.5-5.5. We are so proud of our performances this weekend and this year against some of the best teams in the country. We are already looking forward to next season and winning a national title in Chicago.

Columbia mock trial receives a bid to the national championship tournament in philadelphia (March 2019)

Columbia is going to Nationals! After competing at the Opening Round Championship Series Tournament in Central Islip, Long Island, team 514 received a bid to compete at the National Championship Tournament in Philly. Team 515 finished off its competitive season with a successful showing at ORCS. Shantanu Shenai (CC ‘21) and Johanne Karizamimba (CC ‘20) received individual attorney awards and Hardy Hewson (GS ‘19) won a best witness award.

columbia mock trial gets 2 bids out of regionals to move on to orcs (February 2019)

Columbia Mock Trial received two bids to the Opening Round Championship Series Tournament in Central Islip, Long Island after competing in the State College Regional Tournament in State College, Pennsylvania. 515 received the third bid to ORCS and 514 received the 6th. We are very excited to be on the road to Nationals in Philly! Shantanu Shenai (CC ‘21), Mashell Rahimzadeh (BC ‘20), Michael Colton (CC ‘22), and Isabel Padilla (GS ‘20) all received individual witness awards.

514 competes at the shutdown showdown and 515 competes at the hilltop invitational (January 2019)

Team 514 took the 2 train to Brooklyn to compete in the first-ever Shutdown Showdown tournament. We were excited to receive 4th place amongst a roster of competitive teams as well as the Spirit of the Showdown Award for having the best sportsmanship. Mashell Rahimzadeh (BC ‘20) was given an individual witness award. During the same weekend, team 515 travelled to D.C. to compete at the Hilltop Invitational hosted by Georgetown University. Isabel Padilla (GS ‘20) received an individual witness award.

514 and 515 travel to los angeles (January 2019)

Both teams 514 and 515 flew across the country to compete in the UCLASSIC tournament hosted by UCLA. We loved competing in sunny California against West Coast teams as our first tournament of the second semester. Team 514 came in 9th place out of 38 teams. Isabel Padilla (GS ‘20) received an individual witness award.

514 Goes to GAMTI and 515 goes to Yale (december 2018)

Team 514 travelled to Washington, D.C. to compete at the Great American Mock Trial Invitation (GAMTI) hosted by the University of Virginia. After a great weekend facing competitive teams, 514 came in 7th place. The same weekend, team 515 travelled to New Haven to compete in the Yale Invitational and faced a competitive line up of nationally ranked teams. Andrew Sullivan (CC ‘22) was given an individual attorney award.

Columbia mock trial travels to north carolina to compete (November 2018)

Both teams travelled to Durham, North Carolina to compete at the Tobacco Road Invitational hosted by Duke University. We had a great time competing against teams from the southeast. Tessa Silverman (CC ‘19) was given an individual attorney award and Mashell Rahimzadeh (BC ‘20) and Michael Colton (CC ‘22) were given witness awards.

strong start to columbia’s season at cubait (OCtober 2018)

Columbia Mock Trial hosted and competed at the Columbia University Big Apple Invitational Tournament in October, the first tournament of our 2018-2019 season. Team 514 took 5th place while Team 515 came in 3rd! Johanne Karizamimba (CC ‘20) was given an individual attorney award and Caroline Albert (CC ‘19) was given a witness award.
